6 Years Today

6 years ago today I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
6 years ago today I was in year 9 at school.
6 years ago today I was sick, tired, thirsty and scared.

Today I had a 10hr day at uni.
Today I'm in my dream course.
Today I did my first full child language assessment.
                 
Today I give myself a pat on the back for hitting day 2190 with type 1 diabetes. My diaversary isn't a bad thing, it's the day I recognise that I've lived with this thing for a long time, but I haven't let it stop me. I've achieved far more since diagnosis than I did beforehand.

Today, the 5th of May, is a good day.

D Blog Week 2017: What Brings Me Down

"Today let’s revist a  prompt from 2014  - May is  Mental Health Month  so now seems like a great time to explore the emotional side of living with, or caring for someone with, diabetes. What things can make dealing with diabetes an emotional issue for you and / or your loved one, and how do you cope?"
